Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Legal Document Assistant?+

A Legal Document Assistant (LDA) is a registered and bonded professional authorized to prepare legal documents at the direction of self-represented individuals. LDAs save clients money by handling paperwork without the cost of an attorney. We cannot provide legal advice — we prepare documents based on your instructions.

How much do your services cost?+

Fees vary by document type and complexity. Generally, our services cost a fraction of what an attorney would charge for the same document preparation. We provide upfront pricing during your initial consultation so there are no surprises. Service fees do not include court filing fees, recording fees, or other third-party costs.

Can you represent me in court?+

No. As a Legal Document Assistant, I cannot represent you in court, provide legal advice, or advocate on your behalf. I prepare documents based on your direction. If you need legal advice or representation, I can refer you to licensed attorneys.

What areas do you serve?+

We serve clients throughout California. Our offices are in Ridgecrest (Kern County) and Arroyo Grande (San Luis Obispo County), and we assist clients statewide through phone, email, and in-person appointments. We regularly serve Bakersfield, San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, and surrounding communities.

Do I need an appointment?+

Yes, we operate by appointment to ensure we can give each client our full attention. You can book online through our scheduling link or call (760) 382-2481 to set up a time. Same-day and evening appointments are often available.
