How It Works

  1. 1Free Consultation. We discuss your situation and identify the documents you need. We do not provide legal advice — we help you understand the paperwork process.
  2. 2Document Preparation. You provide your information and instructions. We prepare all required forms accurately and completely — uncontested or contested.
  3. 3Review & Filing. We review the documents with you and provide instructions for filing with the court. You remain in control of your case throughout.

Important: We are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice, represent you in court, or advise you on legal strategy. We prepare documents at your specific direction. If you need legal advice, we can refer you to licensed attorneys.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does divorce document preparation cost?+

Our fees are a fraction of what an attorney would charge — typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the complexity of your case, number of issues, and documents needed. We provide a clear quote during your free consultation. Court filing fees are separate.

Can you help with an uncontested divorce?+

Yes — uncontested divorces are our most common service. When both parties agree on all issues, we prepare the complete set of documents needed to finalize your dissolution efficiently. We prepare the Petition, Marital Settlement Agreement, and all supporting forms at your direction.

What if my spouse won't sign?+

If your spouse does not respond within 30 days of being served, you may be able to proceed with a default judgment. We can prepare the documents you need for a default divorce proceeding. If your case becomes contested, we can still prepare your documents at your direction.

How long does a California divorce take?+

California has a mandatory six-month waiting period from the date the Petition is served and the Response is filed. The fastest a divorce can be finalized is six months plus one day. The actual timeline depends on whether the divorce is contested and how quickly all required documents are completed.

What's the difference between divorce and legal separation?+

A divorce (dissolution) legally ends the marriage. A legal separation addresses the same issues — property division, support, and custody — but the parties remain legally married. We prepare documents for both.
